The Alexandria Earth Day Committee invites you to become a sponsor for
this year’s event on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Following the success of last year when over 1300 people attended, the
event will again be held at the Ben Brenman Park. This year's theme will
be based on the need to promote education.
This year we are going to highlight and celebrate the many activities performed every day by the students, staff, and parents of the Alexandria Public Schools that will lead us all to a green and sustainable future. Please check this website for all the details of the celebration.
The Alexandria Earth Day event is arranged jointly by the City
government through the Recreation Parks and Cultural Activities
department and the city's Environmental Policy Commission. For the past
years, the driving theme has been that of education.
Government,
non-profits and certain commercial organizations are invited to show
what they are doing to help us all live in a sustainable world. The
festival is, of course free for all to visit, but it does cost money to
stage. The City meets half of the cost and the EPC has to raise the
other 50%....and this year is a tough year for everybody financially. If
you feel that you can contribute to help us reach out to our citizens,
and especially to the children, then please download the sponsor letter and form.
All sponsors will be featured on the Alexandria Earth Day website and
other promotional material.
