Alexandria Earth Day 2010 Exhibitors and Activities
The EverGreen Home will deliver a workshop called "Green Your Home from Soup to Nuts!" (starting at 10:30AM). The workshopwill share resources with homeowners on large and small ways to make their homes greener. Whether participants are doing a home renovation that requires a LEED AP builder, or trying to figure out the best VOC-free options for a nursery – this fun and interactive workshop is a must! Federal tax credits for green renovations will also be discussed!
The club Cycling Made Fun will lead a family friendly bike ride along the paved Holmes Run Trail! The hour-long ride will be depart at 12:30 PM, and will cover approximately 6 miles with a stop at the Buddie Ford Nature Center. Participants of all ages and ride levels are welcome. Minors under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by an Adult. Helmets are mandatory! The ride will take us on the Holmes Run Parkway trail, the city's longest greenway and part of a segment of the Potomac Heritage trail. We will pedal through the woodlands, where wildlife is preserved and where Native American Indians occupied the site 4000 years ago. Discover Alexandria's oldest willow tree, the bicentenial tree, and ride along the stream where the Civil War made history.
Diana's Books will be collecting and distributing used books and media (e.g., DVDs, CDs, books on tape) during the Earth Day event!
